‘CONJURING’ PATIENCE. ‘THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT’ STICKS TO JUNE 2021 RELEASE

After a pandemic pushback, Warner Bros. Pictures updated the production notes for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The new report confirms that the seventh film in The Conjuring universe will haunt theaters, IMAX and HBO MAX on June 4th.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga returned to the franchise to star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, with Michael Chaves directing. The movie also features Ruairi O’Conner, Sarah Catherine Hook and Julian Hilliard.

The studio’s description for the movie reads: “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.”

Recent videos from the set of The Conjuring 3, however, indicate that there are significant changes to the way this new film will unfold. James Wan, who kicked off the series and still remains heavily involved, said in the video that he wanted the new film to move away from the haunted house feel of the previous movies. The change in style will likely benefit the series moving forward. The haunted house atmosphere made for two beloved horror movies and successful spinoffs, but that style is in jeopardy of becoming overdone. Should The Conjuring 3 be a success, this tactic will shift the tone to something of a paranormal true crime series.
